Eva (27)

Where there are Smurfs (see previous post), there is Eva and there is me. Where there is Eva and me, there is Mail. Where there is Mail... there is the Mail Monster!

A cute animal, I think when seeing this lovely portrait by Eva. But maybe appearances are deceptive.
Anyway, more about the Mail Monster and his/her life and mail habits, we will learn in future, thanks to Eva's Mail Monster project.

Thank you very much, Eva!
I'll reply as soon as I know more about this nn MM !

FinnBadger (10,11)

Almost three months ago already, on the 1st of May, I received a wonderful Smurf envelope, followed by a Dragon envelope on the 3rd of May.
I think FinnBadger knows well how to cause a broad smile on my face. Together with Platypus and Echidna, and Birds, both Smurfs and Dragons make my day when they arrive via mail art at my place.

I was even more amazed when I saw the Smurf stamp. First I thought it an artistamp, but looking close it turns out to be a real (read: officially issued) stamp, issued by the United Nations Postal Administration.

The Dragon is a favourite of mine, too, having been born in the Year of the Dragon.
This one pictured is a funny one, friendly as almost all dragons are, funny because she or he's fond of tacos. Surprisingly not liking the spicy salsa...
Great matching stamps, too, which make me remember the months I spent in Central America, some decades ago (tamales.. qué sabrosos!)

Inside one of the envelopes this great collage. I happened to have seen and heard the talented Gorilla in the week preceding receiving this collage!

Also this wonderful collage arrived. Amazing how two faces can make one new face.

The back side of the Dragon envelope:

FinnBadger added some leaflets of the artists Dino Nemec and Patrick Wayner, showing more animals:

Check Dino Nemec's website for more beautiful animal art; more information about Patrick Wayner and his art you can find here and here.

Thank you very much, FinnBadger!

Cascadia Artpost (3)

From Cascadia Artpost I received some Peeps, tiny Human beings, before.
Thanks to this new mail art, a photo-diorama sent by Cascadia Artpost, too, it becomes clear to me in what kind of surroundings they live.

Cascadia Artpost and Mail Art Martha organized a Clown Parade mail art project recently. Prefering animals to clowns, I've sent them a Clown fish. I couldn't choose whether to send it to Cascadia Artpost in Cascadia, USA, or to Mail Art Martha in the Queendom of Retailia, UK. So I learned the postman has chosen to bring it to the USA.

Thank you very much, Cascadia Artpost!

Ruud Janssen (8)

Nowadays it seems that many people consider the digital world as the real world. So the time might be ripe to consider computers (and smartphones and so on) as living creatures, too!...?
Anyway, this artwork by Ruud Janssen looks very Human. A good alibi to post it here!

The, er, how shall we name him/her, came in an envelope, decorated by the General-President of the International Union of Mail Artists (IUOMA) himself. Such an honour!

And the front side pretty and interesting as usual. Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, Ruud!

Tonipoet (8)

Pictures (mail art, stamps, anything) showing Echidna or Platypus make me extremely happy.

This way Tonipoet succeeded to bring a broad smile on my face and a ton full of energy to my body on a tiring day, by adding this original Echidna stamp to her collage.
The art work is #533 and named "Prehistoric Australia". Although Echidna and other monotremes seem - and are! - prehistoric, fortunately they also live in present Australia.

The Echidna arrived, accompanied by two Easter Bunnies and a Cat, who so to see got lost in Paris but soon will find her way again thanks to the map.

Both cards came in a beautiful Wolf envelope,

Of which the back side is a piece of abstract art in itself:

Thank you very much, Toni!

Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, merci beaucoup, Nicole!

Eva (26)

What would there be in this semi-transparent envelope?

This wonderful fish, of course!
Made and sent by Eva from Spain.

Take a look at the stamps, above, too! An awesome origami elephant is joining, as are Don Quixote, his helper and horse.

Eva added coffee to the outside of the envelope (yummy!), and inside a postcard by German artist Harald Geisler:

Thank you very much, Eva, moltes gracies!

Stripygoose (13)

I think I've written more than once before that I am behind in posting my received (and outgoing) mail art (and replying to it). This way I sometimes post newly received items first, and many times I go back and forth, to post mail art received longer time ago.

So these great birds by Stripygoose I already received in March, almost half a year before receiving the previously posted birds.
The landscape makes me long for vacation, and the close-up bird makes me almost hear this bird sing!

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

Fleur Helsingor (3)

Great collage by Fleur Helsingor showing Birds on a photographed background.
These birds came in an envelope, made out of a photo collage of a nearby café window's display of photos and art.

Fleur also returned my add-and-return, from a serie which I will blog on IUOMA on a later date. Here already a part of it, thanks to the other wonderful Bird:

Thank you very much, Fleur!
