Eva (30)

It has been one year and one-day-and-half since I posted my most recent blog post here at 'Real Weird Animals'... Meanwhile I have received so many beautiful matching mail art!
I apologize for being this late, and I guess my huge backlog (in sharing my received mail with you) will keep on being huge.
Hopefully, and step by step I'll show you the gems. To start with this Squirrel, named Francis, which I received today:
I wish the squirrel would have been baking pancakes for me, but fact is, he is baking for his BF, Peris Little-Dormouse :-) Made and sent (and accompanied by a matching story) by Eva. Thank you very much!

Katerina Nikoltsou (33)

The New Year 2018 just has started. And in one and half month an other New Year will begin: the Year of the Dog.

The mail art Katerina has sent to me a few weeks ago, matches with both years, as you can see!

The front side of the Dog card shows blue:

And inside the envelope there is an other envelope, a red felt one meant for Santa, so to see. But first we park the Squirrels here!

On the back side of the outer envelope there are Katerina's famous stamp prints:

Thank you very much, Katerina, and happy New Years!

Boscographix

This surprise mail I received from Boscographix from the USA. Between the postage stamps and the airmail stamp a tiny Squirrel eating an oak seed, that's a good alibi to post this mail art on this blog. And the great rubber stamps of Humans, are of course too.

And inside the envelope a great surprise: Dutch postage stamps of bells and a street organ! (How did the sender know that I love music, too?!)

Thank you very much, Boscographix!

Connie Jean (6)

Connie Jean, curator of the Squirrel Museum, created this colourful Bird mail art to send to me.

Fortunately I still noticed Squirrels, this time on the back of the card:

Thank you very much, Connie!

Katerina always knows how to cheer one up by her mail art. This time happy Cows from Paris entered my mailbox, via Greece.

On the back the Greek Owl, and some Squirrels. The Squirrels had escaped the inside of an envelope of a Dutch sustainable bank, and thus had traveld from the Netherlands to Greece and back again.

The animals were accompanied by a blue Greek moon. And more artistamps:

Also enclosed this egg head stamp, made and sent to Katerina by Ed Giecek:

Since Katerina run out of air mail envelopes, some new things happen to her present blank envelopes. This one got lines instead of air mail red-and-blue. And pretty stamps showing the ancient Greek god Poseidon:

Thank you very much, Katerina!

This photo, Scurry no. 18, is a documentation of contributions (including my Squirrel) which Connie Jean received for her Squirrel Museum.

Also a Squirrel on the envelope, and more.

Thank you very much, Connie!

Micu (6)

Happy Worms and searching Birds, watched by her, and added to my 'what or whom is she staring at?' card by Micu.

This year, Micu has a wonderful mail art project, themed endangered animals. Please check her website and join!

The stamp shows Penguins, the European Ground Squirrel, and real braille.

Thank you very much, Micu!

Pufflingspaintings

"Sqoxes are surprisingly good at snorkeling. They hide their best nuts in ziplock bags under rocks as no one ever finds them there (often this includes themselves as they are terribly forgetful)."

I am a big fan of Pufflingspaintings' paintings. I learned to know the painter via Instagram. You can find her also on Twitter and Etsy. Every time her illustrations of the adventures of Sqox and Unicorn succeed to cause a big smile on my face.

"Just having a little lunch."

Some time ago, after a conversation we had on instagram about nuts, I decided to send her my version of Sqox, accompanied by some delicious chestnuts.
And some time later she surprised me with these great illustrations.

Some summer views of Unicorn.

Thank you very much, Pufflingspaintings!

Mihaela

This piece of mail art I received via Postcrossing.
Many postcrossers do not want to receive handmade cards and don't send out mail art at all.
But sometimes a postcrosser does, and I always think it a both a pleasure and a treasure, to receive mail created by hand, thus with extra attention.

Recently I received this lovely Owl, which has been made by Mihaela from Bulgaria. She has made it with some help of her elder sister Desi.

To the accompanying letter Mihaela added some more nice (sticker) animals:

And to the envelope a Butterfly stamp.

Thank you very much, Mihaela, Благодаря!

This interesting 'Luna' (= Moon) decorated envelope (part of it also published here today) came ...

... from Connie Jean from the USA.

Inside there were many Squirrels: this documentation of a part of the Squirrel Museum exhibition (if you look close you can see my contribution, too):

And this clever brave Squirrel:

Along with these two interesting papers on Mail Art and Mail Artists:

Thank you very much, Connie!

Some time ago I received mail art from Connie Jean, accompanied by a call for mail art for the Squirrel Museum. I sent my contribution, and Connie replied by sending this picture of the mini exhibition named Scurry (nr 6). A pleasure to see my mail art - and many other great mail art - has landed!

The photo came with this special animal (which I think a Squirrel however in some way it reminds me of this quote).

Thank you very much, Connie!

Interesting collage created and sent by Connie Jean from the United States.
You can view from all sides, but I choose to emphasise the Canary Bird who was a great (and sadly) warner in miners' days).

She added a call for mail art: draw a Squirrel!
Something I of course like to do immediately, and fortunately I found some time to do so. My Squirrel meanwhile has landed in the Squirrel Museum :-)

Thsnk you very much, Connie!

Nico van Hoorn (5) & Jaap-Aap (3)

Some months ago I bought my very first Instax camera. I still didn't try it, and then suddenly Real Instax photos landed in my mailbox. The senders being no one less than Jaap-Aap and Nico van Hoorn!

The postage stamp was a special one, too: showing Bob Bear, one of Jaap's and Nico's friends.

Here are more great Instax pictures, showing some other friends:

And a print. I feel spoiled!

Thank you very much, hartstikke bedankt, Nico en Jaap-Aap!
