FinnBadger (13)

From Canada, via the USA, this great map envelope arrived. Created by FinnBadger.

Inside a restaurant's paper, and the ones who know me, immediately will see which words made FinnBadger think of me (thus add it to his mail) :-)

Also inside the envelope a regular postcard. Usually I don't post official postcards on this blog, but it is a nice and matching illustration, and the Bear increases my alibi to post FinnBadger's mail art here :-)

Thank you very much, FinnBadger!

Katerina Nikoltsou (23)

Happy 2017 from Katerina!

On the back nice circles, and in the envelope she added a great Bunny Reindeer, a personalized one, even, showing my name.

The envelope shows animals, too, a friendly Bear and a Rabbit.
And see the #safetypin, symbolizing solidarity! I recognize it from Thom Courcelle's mail art.

Thank you very much, Katerina!

Mihaela

This piece of mail art I received via Postcrossing.
Many postcrossers do not want to receive handmade cards and don't send out mail art at all.
But sometimes a postcrosser does, and I always think it a both a pleasure and a treasure, to receive mail created by hand, thus with extra attention.

Recently I received this lovely Owl, which has been made by Mihaela from Bulgaria. She has made it with some help of her elder sister Desi.

To the accompanying letter Mihaela added some more nice (sticker) animals:

And to the envelope a Butterfly stamp.

Thank you very much, Mihaela, Благодаря!

Antonia Mayol (4)

This Bear has been created by Antonia Mayol from Spain.

Besides collages she creates paintings, of which you can see this small version.

It arrived some time ago already at my place, and meanwhile we're just before the next summer:

Thnk you very much, Antonia, and Happy Summer to tyou, too!

Eva (20)

Eva sent me great mail: not a letter on an A4 piece of paper, but a letter bound as a booklet. A real pageturner, thank you, Eva!!
Inside the book she drew me this Polar Bear, so I had a good excuse to post at least this part of her wonderful mail here.
And on the outside of the envelope there was this amazing Umbrella Man. And Fish stamps!

Moltes gràcies, Eva!

Eduard Egorov

This Cow I think fascinating, and for some unknown reason she makes me think of strawberry ice cream...

Created and sent from Russia by Eduard Egorov.

On the back side a beautiful Mail Dove, with suitable text:

Eduard has an interesting ongoing mail art project: Окна в мир (Okn w mir), 'Windows to the world'. Be sure to check his website and join this project!

Thank you very much, Eduard!

Nico van Hoorn (3) & Jaap-Aap (1)

Recently I drew the two famous fellows Jaap-Aap and Edmund, and sent it to Jaap-Aap and Nico van Hoorn.
And very soon after, Nico sent me Jaap-Aap's kind reply: a view inside of the Personal Photo Album of Jaap-Aap!

With a nice portrait / whole body picture.

And Jaap-Aap standing in an amazing watery landscape! Fortunately the Bear didn't notice nor ate Jaap-Aap.

Jaap-Aap watched an interesting Bird...

...And did his own laundry!

He also appeared to be an experienced operator of the mixing panel (I was not sure whether Jaap-Aap was mixing sounds or mixing lights, or both, or if he was operating the railway logistics, but after some investigation I found out that Jaap-Aap was making Radio!)

Meanwhile I could enjoy a picture of a pictogram, a person pushing the pedestrian's traffic light button.

And Jaap-Aap started to create Art.

Thank you very much, Jaap-Aap and Nico, hartelijk dank!

Alisa

Most postcrossers prefer to receive and send out 'regular' postcards.
But sometimes, very few times, there are postcrossers who like selfmade cards.
I think these handmade cards are treasures. Today I'm happy to show you all this great, handdrawn Formosan Black Bear! Created and sent by Alisa from Taiwan.

Thank you very much, Alisa!

Erni Bär

Received from Erni Bär from Germany, as a reply to my Bär (Bear) to him. Many animals on this beautiful piece of mail art. And who has ever seen a werewolf in real?

Herzlichen Dank, Erni!

Suus in Mokum

Don't know which name I would give this animal, whose glasses and ears contain my favourite colours. Anyhow, the title is 'Ik zie blokjes met nieuw brilletje', 'I see cubes through new glasses'.
Made and sent by Suus in Mokum.

Suus' snail mail weblog you can find here, more sent and received mail art by Suus in Mokum is here. More art - colour! - like the circles above, you can find here.

Hartstikke bedankt, Suus!

Lindenhof

Thanks to the two collage postcards sent by the German artist group Lindenhof a lot of weird animals are added to this project!

Alas some animals are in a real bad position, either stuck to a fly-paper or serving for food...

The great thing about Mail Art, to my opinion, is not only that artists from all over the world meet by sending art to each other, but also that Post itself adds peculiar interesting pieces to the art, for example on this front side of Lindenhof's card:

Vielen Dank, Lindenhof!
