Reiner Langer

Several mail artists do agree: one of the most weird animals are we, human beings.
While people call fighting men sometimes 'animals', especially at wars, I think most animals are better than that, because their fights at least have a purpose (getting food, survival of the fittest etcetera).
This mail art I receivd from Reiner Langer from Germany.

Probably not meant for this Real Weird Animals project, but I think it's very apt, showing two mammals, both of them being or threatened to be a victim of violence.
Rainer has a mail art project themed 'WAR', so if you consider to participate, check his website.

Vielen Dank, Reiner!

Micu

Wow, this is a strange animal!
It's Phidippus mystaceus, a tiny spider ('jumping spider') who's just 1 centimeter in size

Thank you very much, Micu!

Micu has a blog about three other nice animals, see here.
And together with Jennie she started a very nice project: Mail a Smile. Such a great idea to send smiles to people who can use them, so if you want to participate: check out Mail a Smile and join!

Eva (5)

Great do-it-yourself build a giraffe mail!
Thank you very much, moltes gràcies, Eva!

Guido Vermeulen (4)

"The Kissing Rabbits" is the title of this envelope, so I thought it a good reason to add it to this website.

The postcard inside is a tribute to Mme Janine Fourez (1926-2013).

All created, and sent from Belgium, by Guido Vermeulen. Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, Guido!

Anna Banana

The Aye-Aye is a fascinating mammal (as is mankind)!
In Dutch we call this animal 'Vingerdier', 'Finger animal', because of his long middle finger.
This time the Aye-Aye appeared on an envelope, created and sent by Anna Banana from Canada, as a thank you for colour test prints I had sent to Anna.

And in the envelope more great surprises: beautiful artistamps, a printed card, and a recent issue of the Zine 'Bananarag'.

Thank you very much, Anna!

Kerosene (4)

I think it a sacrifice, or even: almost impossible, to cut in pieces and send away something dear. Kerosene did!
So I feel honoured. Thank you very much, Kerosene, for this very special - real embroidered - Tiger!
