Call for Mail Art: Weird (existing) Animals! Platypus, Tapir, Okapi, Echidna, Mole, Axolotl are some of my favourite animals. They have in common that they exist irl and that they are uncommon. Which animal do you think odd? Send your image of an unusual (existing, no fantasy) animal. All media are welcomed, preferable postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms). No jury, no fee, no return. All weird existing animals will be published in this ongoing virtual exhibition.

The axolotl is one of my favourite animals. I don't know whether this is because of the name, or because of his/her appearance, or probably both! As a child I had a picture of an axolotl in my animal encyclopedia, and years later, when I saw him/her in a zoo in real, I still thought this an intriguing creature.
Thanks to Nicole Eippers I now received this friendly Axolotl in my mailbox!
Together with, of course, Nicoles famous Flying Pig - Cochon Volant.
Nicole has an ongoing mail art project, see her blog Piggy One Mailart.
Hartelijk dank, merci beaucoup, Nicole, ik ben er blij mee!

Suus in Mokum
Don't know which name I would give this animal, whose glasses and ears contain my favourite colours. Anyhow, the title is 'Ik zie blokjes met nieuw brilletje', 'I see cubes through new glasses'.
Made and sent by Suus in Mokum.
Suus' snail mail weblog you can find here, more sent and received mail art by Suus in Mokum is here. More art - colour! - like the circles above, you can find here.
Hartstikke bedankt, Suus!

Yes! One of my (many) most favourite animals came into my mailbox: a Mole!!
(and a poor Earthworm).
Created and send from Belgium by Nicole Eippers, together with a beautiful Bird stamp and of course Pig mail art! (Not to be confused with Pig nail art.)
Inside - besides an other nice mole - an other surprise: one of my other favourite animals: the Okapi.
Merci beaucoup - hartelijk dank, Nicole!

Thank you very much, Marcia! I hope you've received my first mermaid (but am afraid she'd got lost in post), the second one is on her way!

"This is a photograph of a ballet dancer with color adjustment. This is from the winter concert directed by Nicole Berry for Manitou Springs High School. Please consider these files for your mail art show: Weird Animals. Dancers are very unusual."
