Vizma Bruns (5)

This tiny booklet arrived in this envelope - see the great Platypus and Crab stamps!

The mail art, created and sent by Vizma Bruns from Australia, reminded me of a Matruschka: I opened the envelope, and in it was a smaller Fish envelope, and in it was a smaller Panda envelope, and in that there was this bookie!

See here a graphic visual to see the sizes:

Thank you very much, Vizma!

Kathy Barnett

Wonderful Crocodile surrounded by barcode art. Created and sent by Kathy Barnett from the USA.

Thank you very much, Kathy!

MC van Helmond

These Fish arrived in a barcode art envelope, thanks to MC van Helmond.

Somewhere in the postal process some parts of the art and stamp have vanished, nevertheless it still is a colourful piece of mail art.
Thank you very much, MC!

Adamandia Kapsalis (3)

I wrote (and posted) about the "What or whom is she staring at?" project before, and I am delighted by the variety of mail art people create on this theme.

This one is from Adamandia Kapsalis. For some or another reason I think of Fish when I think of Adamandia (and I've created more than once Fish mail art to send to her). But she is a multi-faceted artist, as this mixed-media mail art shows. Though I am happy to see this tiny Fish in it, too, so I can post her mail art here :-)

Thank you very much, Adamandia!

Katerina Nikoltsou (18)

This entry for the 'What or whom is she staring at?' project came from Katerina Nikoltsou from Greece. Katerina's creation suddenly made me wonder if the animals' name, Dolphin, has to do something with the famous ancient Greek oracle place Delphi. I looked it up, and yes, there is a connection (or not?)!

On the back side nice mail art things, among them artistamps from other mail artists, and matching Greek stamp prints.
And inside the envelope some other materials, among them a colouring plate, showing the wise Owls and - probably - the wise goddess Athena:

Katerina also added a ruler, showing nice Owls, too. A big surprise, an excellent gift which I can use to draw straight lines in my own mail art.

Thank you very much, Katerina!

Kate Klyuenkova

These wonderful rubberstamps have been carved by Kate Klyuenkova.

Along with the stamp prints came a very kind letter and more, all traveling in this beautiful envelope, with matching Bird stamps. You can notice calligraphy in the stamps!

So kind of yours, thank you very much, Kate!

Tonipoet (4)

Parts of this mail art from Tonipoet I already posted on Leap Day (yes, 2016 is not only the Year of the Monkey but also a Leap Year!). Then I realized I never had posted the main image in this blog: the Chicken. Here she is!

Who knows what animals (Owls, Crows, Bats, Sparrows) are living in this old church tower (included in the great envelope):

We had hoped that USPS would cancel the stamp and provde it with the rare date '29 Feb 2016',

But instead they postmarked the 'do not open til leap day' message!

Detail:

Thank you very much, Toni!
