Call for Mail Art: Weird (existing) Animals! Platypus, Tapir, Okapi, Echidna, Mole, Axolotl are some of my favourite animals. They have in common that they exist irl and that they are uncommon. Which animal do you think odd? Send your image of an unusual (existing, no fantasy) animal. All media are welcomed, preferable postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms). No jury, no fee, no return. All weird existing animals will be published in this ongoing virtual exhibition.

Katerina Nikoltsou (10)
This mail art has been created mainly for the IUOMA 'Orange lovers' group. However, there's clearly a Feline shown, so I'd like to share this mail art here, too!
When I see the Puma logo (I have one on my little backpack), I always think of the Jaguar, also. I imagine that the one is exchanged for the other: the Jaguar on my backpack and the Puma on the car's bonnet.
Katerina created this mail art however, to exchange orange for blue and vice versa. Two colours which contrast, but therefore also suit well together.
Thank you very much, Katerina!

Carina
I'm happy to receive this Mail Cat, accompanied by a stamp of the Finnish national bird: the Whooper Swan.
On the front side an interesting collage, almost a 3D one!
Created and sent from Finland by Carina Granlund.
Thank you very much, Carina!

Kelly Gorman
The Rat is a very clever animal. And despite of (or maybe because of) the fact that rats have a lot in common with humans, for which they sadly are used for scientific experiments, many people despise this interesting animal.
The good news is that there are also people who assess the value of the Rat. See for instance Ratatouille (one of my all-time favourite movies), and the English band The Stranglers named their debute album after this smart mammal. And of course in the Chinese zodiac there's the Year of the Rat (only six years to go from now).
This beautiful mixed media minimal art mail art has been created by Kelly Gorman from the USA.
Besides collages she creates fine drawings and paintings. You can find more of her artwork on her website and at Etsy.
Thank you very much, Kelly!

Mathom House
A sweet collage arrived from Mathom House from Italy. Probably the Post has token something instead of adding lots of the usual additions, as Mathom House wrote that these puppies were accompanied by ice cream.
Nevertheless I think it a great collage; by the horizontal lines it makes me think of a nice variation on our flag.
The postage stamp shows the cartographer Martino Martini.
I am happy to read that Mathom House and I share a similar favourite animal: the Donkey. So now I know what mail art to create to send in return :-)
(Strange enough no one ever has sent Donkey mail art to the Real Weird Animals project so far - while I only did twice, you can find Donkeys here, on the 8th row, and here)
Thank you very much, grazie mille, Mathom House!
