Sonia Egorova (2)

Oh, how I love this drawing by young artist Sonia Egorova!
Eduard Egorov, who provided the mail art with beautiful animal postage stamps and a wonderful Tree stamp, told that Sonia's mail art had been sent in October 2016 already.
However, after four months Sonia and Eduard received it in return.
First I was wondering why. But now I realize that it has to do with the season.
Russian and Dutch Post wanted to prevent these little creatures from freezing. головастики, also known as kikkervisjes, also known as tadpoles, don't florish in autumn or winter, they grow best in Spring!

So this time they used an envelope, and it arrived well (some weeks ago already).

Eduard enclosed this call for mail art: Irises. An interesting theme I'd like to join (is it the flower? the colourful part of the eye? the arco-iris, rainbow in Spanish?)
See for more information the Irises Art website.

Большое спасибо, Соня и Эдуард!

Faiz Kermani

I was surprised by pretty and Frog-friendly mail, containing this bookmark and funny stickers. The message is clear:

Sent by Faiz Kermani from France. He is an author of various books in which the Frog is the main character. Among them Frijibold the Frog in 'The Frog in the Skyscraper', and Bobbul, the Frog who loves mathematics. The illustrations for these two books have been made by Korey Scott (who also has a nice blog).

Faiz also added this important message. You can find more information on the website 'Save the Frogs'.

Thank you very much, Faiz!

Erin Guerard

A gorgeous drawing of the Axolotl, accompanied by great typography, reached my mailbox. Created and sent from Canada by Erin Guerard.
The Axolotl is an amazing Amphibian, who keeps on living in the water when grown-up, in contrary to other amphibians who develop lungs and travel to land.

Also the envelope is great! Thank you very much, Erin!

Nicole Eippers (19)

Already as a child I was fascinated by the Axolotl. In the seventies I had a book from the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam, in which there was a black and white picture showing this amazing weird deep water amphibian.
Nicole Eippers sent me a coloured version of axolotls from Belgium, along with two of my other favourites: a Snail and a Mole. And of course her famous Piggy mail art pig.

Hartelijk dank, merci beaucoup, Nicole!

Antonia Mayol Castelló (2)

Received from Antonia Mayol Castelló, this beautiful collage. It shows the picture of the announcement of the mail art exhibition 'Caminos de Agua' - 'Paths of Water', and some of the contributions. You can see how many animals (including humans) are dependent of water!

And you can find the catalog of the exhibition in a pdf here.

This picture proofs that fish are better off in water than above fire.

Great bird rubber stamps.
Thank you very much, muchas gracias, Antonia!

The Crapaud cornu, I couldn't see whether this is the Long-Nosed Horn Frog or the Amazonian Horn Frog, but I'm happy that Nicole added the name, and the two of them are family after all.
As well as the other frogs, which seem, except for the green frog, a bit poisoned to me.
Fortunately the Butterfly has hidden safely inside of the postage stamp.

Thank you very much, merci beaucoup, Nicole, for this new interesting collage!

Antonia Mayol

Yes! Here he/she is, with many thanks to Antonia Mayol from Spain: the Axolotl!
A really weird, weird real animal, kind of salamander so no 'walking fish' but an amphibian. Axolotls live in Mexico and are endangered. Fortunately Antonia Mayol created this one, and I will conserve it with might and main!

On the envelope some beautiful birds, on artistamps and rubber stamp prints (some of them re-stamped by the Dutch mail company)!
Thank you very much, Antonia!
