Eva (32)

Who would ever have thought that turtles can be puzzled by lighthouses?
Wonderful drawing by Eva, and look how the colourpencil colours match with the stamps!
Thank you very much, Eva, moltes gràcies!

Beautiful artistamps, made by Darlene Altschul, from California, sent to me by Kerosene from Canada!

Besides the Turtles / Tortoises on these stamps she also added this Sea Turtle, probably swum from an encyclopedia:

And some other interesting creatures:

Thank you very much, Kerosene!

Minneapolis Gnome

Wow, such wonderful drawings!
Created by Minneapolis Gnome from Minneapolis (well, the Rhinoceros and Tortoise originally are from Tucson, Arizona).

Along these animals and gnome the staring lady returned, with an inspiring new surrounding: the Gnome's studio.

All arrived in this great envelope:

Thank you very much, Minneapolis Gnome!

Sonia Egorova

I love children's drawings so I became very happy when this great drawing from a young Mail Artist arrived at my place.
The Tortoise and the Cat, created by Sonia Egorova from Russia.

She chose a suitable stamp, too, showing an other well-known animal.

Thank you very much, Sonia, большое спасибо Соня!

Erica Durante

See the trails these Turtle's random footsteps leave!

Great mixed media collage, created and sent by Erica Durante from the USA.

(Can't help the picture of the stamp on the back of the mail art looks so big - in real the Tortoises together are larger! - but always good to see and realize where all these animals are living, and what we need to protect: our earth.)

Thank you very much, Erica!

Diana Hale

This beautiful Fish print has been created by Diana Hale from the USA.

Inside the envelope was this postcard, showing the Philpott Lake. Diana sent it to me and to several other people to add to it and return, on behalf of the Philpott Lake mail art project. I have several ideas on what to add to it (or delete from it, or remove some parts). The ideas still are fresh and green, so what it will become, time will tell :-)

Ti Ar Raden

Last week, 19th of February, the (lunar) Year of the Sheep / Ram / Goat has started. Exactly a month before I received this wonderful Ram, together with a Bull, Fish, a Cow and a bunch of other Farm Animals on the Cow's back. Created and sent by Ti Ar Raden.
The doodled/tangled Bull is a Pie Noir, the Ram is a Ouessant Ram.

On the other side some great stamps, among them a speedy Turtle and the Ermine (Stoat), the poor latter looses his/her tail to various coats of arms (among them coats from Brittany and the Netherlands) and royal cloaks (among them the Dutch one)... Fortunately the Ermine is alive and kicking in this beautiful artistamp.

Thank you very much, trugarez vras, Ti Ar!

Evrika Junglle / Planer

I always am very happy when receiving mail art. However sometimes it isn't easy to find out who has sent it. Which is both a nice puzzle and frustrating :-)
Sometimes I never get to know who the creator / sender is, and sometimes there is doubt.
The latter is concerning this beautiful rubberstamp-drawn-written piece of mail art, of which it took me three days to try to find more info about the sender. And still in doubt.

Is it from Planer (who is Planer)? Is it from Vladimir Tolstov? Do I read well that the first name of the drawing artist is Evrika? Evrika Junglle??
The stamp reveals (viva los postage stamps!) that it has been sent from Russia, so probably not sent by the one who added an artistamp and suitable postage stamp, A. Moreno.
While 'Prolaventa' combined with Maya (see below) reminds us of Evrika Junglle.

Enough about question marks. Let's start to enjoy the mail art! Probably not meant for this mail art project, there are so many great animals shown that this mail art needs to be shown here. too.
The interesting drawing above. Alas I don't speak Russian, but this round-mouthed person seems to say 'ОПЯТЬ ДЫРЫ!?', and according to online translators this means 'Another hole!?'! Good work by the Rodent.
The human being is shown both on the artistamp and the postage stamp, and see the Mail Turtle rubber stamp, the Turtle hard working delivering snail turtle mail!

Inside the envelope beautiful ancient Maya art, combined with contemporary Maya art rubberstamp prints.

Great rubberstamp prints on the back of the envelope, too. The Kangaroo, an extraordinary Marsupial from Australia, and a Jaguar, I think it is, from the fact that this dotted Feline is located close to the word Jungl(l)e.

The word RUSFORMA stands for Russian Uncommercialy Sociocultured Formation Of Reunion Mail Artists.

Thank you very much, спасибо!!

From the Azores

A looong envelope.... Containing (among other interesting info and a message) four looong pictures from weird, interesting animals from the Azores islands. The fact that the animals were pictured on bookmarks, explained the curious size of the envelope.
Here they are:

The Azorean Bat, the Loggerhead Turtle, Cory's Shearwater and the Roseate Tern.
Obviously the illustrator had not intended these as mail art, but the fact they were send by snail mail in such a funny envelope, and that these animals indeed are weird, special, made me think they belong here, too.

Amazingly drawn by the Portugese illustrator Fernando Correia (his amazing website is worth a visit!) and sent to me by Eva. Moltes gràcies, Eva!
