Fleur Helsingor (2)

This nice Art Dog, guarding utility meters, accompanied by a beautiful Rabbit print and other pictures (Chat Lunatique = Lunatic Cat?), have been created and sent by Fleur Helsingor from the USA.

They arrived in a special modern cover, which survived the postal machines surprisingly well.

Fleur has an interesting mail art project. Details you can see below, and here.

Thank you very much, Fleur!

Ti Ar Raden

Last week, 19th of February, the (lunar) Year of the Sheep / Ram / Goat has started. Exactly a month before I received this wonderful Ram, together with a Bull, Fish, a Cow and a bunch of other Farm Animals on the Cow's back. Created and sent by Ti Ar Raden.
The doodled/tangled Bull is a Pie Noir, the Ram is a Ouessant Ram.

On the other side some great stamps, among them a speedy Turtle and the Ermine (Stoat), the poor latter looses his/her tail to various coats of arms (among them coats from Brittany and the Netherlands) and royal cloaks (among them the Dutch one)... Fortunately the Ermine is alive and kicking in this beautiful artistamp.

Thank you very much, trugarez vras, Ti Ar!

Eva (12)

Today - (in the East of Asia 19th of February already has begun) - the Chinese New Year begins. The Year of the Horse will have a long break now, and welcomed is the Year of the Sheep / Goat / Ram !

I was happily surprised to find these nice sheep in my mailbox, created and sent by Eva.
Fortunately this Sheep / Lamb won't be brought to any slaughter at all. And for her wool she's inspiring anyone who'd like to knit.

The envelope shows a Mail Sheep, who I think a great addition to the Mail Pigeon and Snail Mail Snail!
Thank you very much, Eva!

Amy Irwen (2)

Every time I see a platypus, my heart beats faster and I feel a happy feeling deep inside.
This time it is Amy Irwen who has created this wonderful version of this amazing weird animal.

The back side of the card is wonderful as well. The artistamp you see down right is in honour of Guido Vermeulen, a great Belgian mail artist who we sadly have to miss in life, but who will live on in mail art and in our hearts.
There is more to see, so I stop writing, and you can start watching :-)

Thank you very much, Amy!

Eva (11)

As a child I was fascinated by the Dodo, since I saw a picture in the Animal Encyclopedia my grandparents gave me when I was about ten years old. Later in childhood I had a board game about threatened wild life all-over the world, and every time we played it, I hoped to travel to Mauritius, where this interesting bird was living and I could pick up the Dodo fiche. Well, this weird bird alas had been extinct in those days already. But in our hearts he/she lives on.
And in the movie 'The Pirates'.
And thanks to Eva I got even a new, colourful picture of the Dodo!

She added a postcard of twittering budgerigars / parakeets. Thank you very much, Eva, for these cheerful pictures!

Kerosene (7)

Kerosene always knows to find special animal pictures. I thought I've received all of them throughout the years, but fortunately the source had not yet run out.
The Gerbil, Pinguin and Sea Horse. What to say... Weird and lovely, all of them!

She also sent some colourful artistamps...

...and something to prepare for the New Year!

Only ten days left for the Chinese New Year, which will start the 19th of February and will be the Year of the Sheep and the Goat!

Thank you very much, Kerosene!

Antonia Mayol Castelló (3)

Last month there was a mail art exhibition in Alicante, Spain, named 'Caminos de Agua', 'Paths of Water'. The exhibition and mail art project have been organized by Antonia Mayol Castelló (and I am happy that my contributions - among them this one - were shown there, too).

Even though Antonia must have had a lot of work to prepare for the exhibition, she took some time to create this great Fish mail art, which I received in November last year.
Muchas gracias, Antonia!

Michele Henderson

Lovely tiny black Cat among an outburst of orange and red flora! The Cat seems rather relaxed though.
Created and sent by Michele Henderson from the USA.

Thank you very much, Michele!

Miche-Art-Universalis

Interesting collage of Cat and Human, created by Miche-Art-Universalis from Belgium.
I attended her mail art project, 'Hommage to the world of Hokusai' , which deadline has been extended to the 15th of February 2015, so you can still join!

Miche added two calls for mail art, to which you can participate also:

This one is a call for entries on Horses and/or Unicorns:

And this one on the theme 'Cheetahs':

Great Mail Pigeon rubber stamp print on the envelope, too.
Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, Miche-Art-Universalis!

Nicole Eippers (16)

There are some wonderful collage mail artists, and I think Nicole Eippers definitely is one of them.

Speaking for myself, I've tried to make collages but I think it very hard to create them well. Even though many people think and say 'it's easy'. Well, I think it's not! (That's why I prefer drawing :-) )
And every time Nicole creates a Real Weird Animal to send from Belgium to me, I make a jump of joy when I find her creation in my mailbox. This time I'm lucky to have received a Mole, one of my all time favourite animals. In a very peculiar place, seen from the Mole's point of view!

Thank you very much, merci beaucoup, Nicole!

Micu (4)

This amazing Toucan was created by Micu from Hungary. She is a master of recycling art.
I had send her some colour test prints (cut out of cardboard packages, most of them were four to six in a row) and she cut them precisely into monocoloured squares, out of which finally this Toucan was born.

Also the envelope is from recycled material. And behind the bottom of the beautiful 'water' postage stamp sheet (the main part you can below) you can see a glimpse of Fred.

By the way, Micu has a great mail art project 'Mail a Smile', via which you can send a mail art 'smile' each month to someone who can use a smile.

Thank you very much, Micu, nagyon szépen köszönöm!
