Ficus Strangulensis

At first sight I thought this picture a mix of random colours, but looking closer I found out that it existed of photos of Birds and Reptiles which seem to have met in a big mixing bath.
Reptiles, Birds... So they should be posted here.
Usually I don't draw in other people's art work, and I am not sure if the creator, Ficus Strangulensis, would agree if I'd take a felt pen or scissors to mark or cut out the individueal animals?

The art arrived in an envelope, of which the back also shows these colourful mixed-animals, now pictured on a favourite object for mail artists: a mailbox.

Inside Ficus enclosed some readable food for thought:

And the mail art arrived in exact the right season: spring. Also in the USA the Daffodils bloom then!

Thank you very much, Fike!

Postmuse

While the postcard is a regular one (see below, a beautiful picture of a Sea Lion and Fish - Striped salemas), the back side of this card which Postmuse sent to me is postally interesting!

It shows the new international postage stamp, and by the First Day of Issue postmark I learned that the theme is 'Sea surface temperatures'.

And, most mailarty: Postmuse added a great rubber stamp print of a tiny visual poet Snail Mail Snail!

Thank you very much, Postmuse!

Tiziana Baracchi

Nice combination of visual poetry and collage. Showing animals who usually seem to be common, to us. But in fact they're great - and weird!
The striped zebra, the long nose of the elephant, and whoever would wear branches on his head?! And see how pinguins resemble humans.

This fine mail art has been created and sent by Tiziana Baracchi from Italy.

Grazie mille, Tiziana!

Tiziana has an interesting mail art project, dedicated to the late Italian mail artist Guglielmo Achille Cavellini. This year it's 100 years ago that he was born.
For more information about the C.A.G. mail art project, see here.

Received from Bill Copeland aka Bil Kopeland from the USA, this dog and (the dog's?) visual poetry.

Thanks a lot, Bil!

Carlos Botana

Not intended as a Real Weird Animal, this beautiful mixed media Serea Carlos Botana sent to me as a 'thank you' for my Mermaid for the Send me a Mermaid project.

Serea... I couldn't find the word in the dictionary. Serea must be 'Mermaid' in Gallego, as there also is a Serea in Vigo, Galicia.
And Sereia is Mermaid in Portuguese. Since the moment I opened the envelope and read the word 'Serea', the words 'Minha Sereia é Rainha do Mar' (a famous Brazilian song) go through my mind continuously.

Also beautiful are the fine Mermaid on the original Carlos Botana stamp, and the butterfly which was issued by the Spanish correos, post.

Muchas gracias, Carlos!
