I think I've written more than once before that I am behind in posting my received (and outgoing) mail art (and replying to it). This way I sometimes post newly received items first, and many times I go back and forth, to post mail art received longer time ago.

So these great birds by Stripygoose I already received in March, almost half a year before receiving the previously posted birds.
The landscape makes me long for vacation, and the close-up bird makes me almost hear this bird sing!

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

I love bird stamps, and Stripygoose was so kind to send me two: one in front (see above) and one on the back of a pretty mail art card!

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

FinnBadger (9)

Great colourful envelope and matching stamps arrived from FinnBadger from the USA.

Inside there were these Bird Blot artistamps:

(for the one horizontal stamp, hereby the same stamps from an other point of view: )

And a pretty postcard showing the Scarlet Tanager, a songbird I never had heard of until now. The funny thing, I learned from Wikipedia, is that this cousin of the Cardinal bird in Dutch isn't named (literally translated) 'Scarlet Tanager', but 'Black-winged Tanager' instead.
Food for thought: the question 'Is the bird red or black?' reminds me of an other issue: ' Is the glass half empty or half full?' :-)

Thank you very much, FinnBadger!

Stripygoose (11)

The 2nd Saturday in May is the International Migratory Bird Day.
Stripygoose started a group at IUOMA to celebrate this day (and all birds, I guess).

While my birds are slowly flying, on their way to the UK and to a few other countries, Stripgoose's bird flew over the North Sea to arrive at my place within three days only!
Here the bird is:

Although the IMBD is one day, we can send birds during the whole May month (and beyond).

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

Katerina Nikoltsou (27)

Spring has started and tomorrow will be Easter. So a good time to show Katerina's bunny here!

Along with the Rabbit an original artistamp arrived. It shows an interesting Bird, apparently created by bird lovers and bird drawers FinnBadger and Stripygoose:

And two contributions to my 'what or whom is she staring at?' mail art project:

Here you see some details, showing a who-hoo-Owl. The complete picture I'll show at the WOWISSA-blog.

The mail came in this nice envelope, showing an other Greek Owl:

And a Greek sports winner:

Thank you very much, Katerina, and Happy Easter!

Stripygoose did an amazing job: drawing 365 Birds, and then sending all of them out into the world!
I was so lucky to receive number 28: the Bald Headed Ibis.

Of course Stripgoose has created more birds, among them these Map Birds.

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

The Islas Canarias (Canary Islands) I used to know rather well. As a child we went there for summer holidays several times, and presently there is a mail art exhibition themed 'the Camel' on the island Tenerife (which you can see on one of my contributions).

So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw - see above - that Stripygoose has found the birds in the islands! And in the strelitzia, a flower which thrives in the Canaries.

On the front side the Big Bird is watching us waiting patiently.

Thank you very much for this great mail art, Stripygoose!

Collaborating mail artists in London

[Please scroll down for English text]

Two Sundays ago mail artists Katerina Nikoltsou, Mail Art Martha, Scott 'Positively Postal' and StipyGoose had a meet-up in London. Also I was invited, but alas some other obligations made me not take the underseas train to London.
Fortunately I have been there a little bit, too, in a way: in thoughts, and when this special gang of four created mail art, also for me!
Thanks to the Fish, Bird, Rabbit and Cat I found a good reason to post this mail art here.

Thank you very much, StripyGoose, Scott, Martha and Katerina!

An other piece of mail art, sent also for the International Banana Day, has been created by Stripygoose from the UK. I love birds, so I always am pleasantly surprised by Stripygoose's creations. Even though the theme this time was 'Bananas', she added birds on her mail art to me!

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

'Beetle ventures outdoors' - indeed a weird, and nice, animal. Put on paper and sent by Stripygoose from the United Kingdom. And see that also nice little Bird on the address side!

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

After the first Sula, more Sulidae arrived now.
On the front side of the mail art card even more birds: Chickens! With an invitation to go for a walk. Always a good idea, because outside there are many more beautiful birds to see and hear. However, so far I am happy with these ones Stripygoose has sent me from the United Kingdom.

Thank you very much, Stripygoose!

Beautiful water colour painting of the Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) by Stripygoose!
See the fine drawn blue feet, and the selfconfident gaze. Thank you very much, Stripygoose!!

Stripygoose is doing a project: draw a bird every day during 365 days. And you can join creating birds and send them to Stripygoose! I did, see here.
Today I was the lucky receiver of this Real Stripygoose Art Bird!

On the backside Stripygoose explains where the name 'Blue-footed Booby' comes from. In Dutch, however, this Booby isn't called 'blue-footed fool', but 'blauwvoetgent' (blue-footed gent').
According to the wiki about this Booby's northern cousin, the Dutch word 'gent' seems to originate from the English word 'gander', which later changed into 'gannet', and the Dutch word 'gent', which resembles the Dutch word for 'goose' (namely 'gans').
