Eva (30)

It has been one year and one-day-and-half since I posted my most recent blog post here at 'Real Weird Animals'... Meanwhile I have received so many beautiful matching mail art!
I apologize for being this late, and I guess my huge backlog (in sharing my received mail with you) will keep on being huge.
Hopefully, and step by step I'll show you the gems. To start with this Squirrel, named Francis, which I received today:
I wish the squirrel would have been baking pancakes for me, but fact is, he is baking for his BF, Peris Little-Dormouse :-) Made and sent (and accompanied by a matching story) by Eva. Thank you very much!

Boscographix

This surprise mail I received from Boscographix from the USA. Between the postage stamps and the airmail stamp a tiny Squirrel eating an oak seed, that's a good alibi to post this mail art on this blog. And the great rubber stamps of Humans, are of course too.

And inside the envelope a great surprise: Dutch postage stamps of bells and a street organ! (How did the sender know that I love music, too?!)

Thank you very much, Boscographix!

Pepijn de Jonge (3)

From Pepijn de Jonge I already received pretty mail.
And this time he answered to my 'add-and-return' by this great drawing.

I think his illustrations always very pleasant and atmospheric, showing relaxed folks, and music, and animals. Among the animals chickens, cats and horses. And for this 'What or whom is she staring at?' he added Humans and a Dog.

See more artwork by Pepijn on his website and instagram.
And, after a long period of patience, you can see it in real as finally his book has been published, 'A Concert for the Moon'.

Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, Pepijn!

This pretty illustrated envelope I received from Eva. A cute Cow, and see what this Mail Bird holds in the beak!

On the front side Eva created a wonderful typography.

Thank you very much, moltes gràcies, Eva!

Pepijn de Jonge (2)

Few months ago I received wonderful artwork by Pepijn de Jonge.

And now I am surprised by another piece of mailed art, including a very original drawing of an extraordinary - and musical - animal. Who is wishing all of us a happy 2016!

Thank you very much, dankjewel, Pepijn!

Pepijn de Jonge

Pepijn de Jonge is a Dutch illustrator whom I got to know via Instagram.
He has published several books and went from the Netherlands to Vienna by foot.
He is creating a great serie of atmospheric illustrations for a book-to-be (please let him know if you happen to be or know a book publisher! :-) ), named 'A Concert for the Moon'.

He surprised me by sending this drawing, which I think is part of that serie.

On the envelope he added this nice artistamp:

Thank you very much, superbedankt, Pepijn!

Mail Art Martha (8)

I always love Mail Art Martha's Snail Mail Snail. This time the Snail came along with a well-known Owl on the envelope.

Inside the envelope Martha sent me a portrait, drawn / rubbed by Martha herself. And lots of coffee!

And she added music!! It's the second song I ever read and heard about mail art. The very first song I happened to hear yesterday, named 'Mailart dada skank' by Rod Summers and Tom Winter. You can find it at Rod's page, then scroll down and click the link to the song. I think Martha and I should collaborate to make Martha's mail art song into a hit, too :-)

Thank you very much, Martha!

Erni Bär (5)

Behold the Llama!
Or is it an Alpaca?
Anyway, this animal traveled along with several Humans, and Kurt Schwitters, from Germany to the Netherlands in this great collage, created by Erni Bär.

Thinking of Erni's mail art, of course the Haptic Werewolf comes in mind, too, and fortunately the Werewolf also appeared on this collage.

Check Erni's websites: some of his own art, and received mail art.
Thank you very much, vielen Dank, Erni!

Pietro Romano Matarrese

This unidentified Real Weird Animal I received from Pietro Romano Matarrese from Italy.
He created it in a wonderful way: by lemon juice on paper.
And also sent it in a extraordinary way: already framed, ready to be put on the wall!
The glass was a little harmed by the travel through the mail, but despite of the little edge broken, it arrived surprisingly well.

Pietro Romano Matarrese is a multi-artist. Both painter and professor/teacher, musician and composer. You can find more information about Pietro in his biography.

An other surprise Pietro has sent, is his CD, named U.P.H.O. (Unidentified Playing High Object). On this CD a variety of instrumental compositions played on electric guitar.

The front cover has been cleverly made: when you look close, you can see the so-called Droste effect:

Thank you very much, grazie mille, Pietro!

How surprising life can be for someone who loves Birds and who loves Books: suddenly the BookStork flew into my mailbox!
Caught and send to me from Spain - with also another beloved subject on the stamps: Musical Instruments! - by Eva.

Moltes gràcies, Eva!
