Weird Existing Animals

Call for Mail Art: Weird (existing) Animals! Platypus, Tapir, Okapi, Echidna, Mole, Axolotl are some of my favourite animals. They have in common that they exist irl and that they are uncommon. Which animal do you think odd? Send your image of an unusual (existing, no fantasy) animal. All media are welcomed, preferable postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms). No jury, no fee, no return. All weird existing animals will be published in this ongoing virtual exhibition.

Usually, if I post regular cards, I do so on an other location.
But these Dragons came in such an amazing mail art envelope, that I decided to use them as an alibi to post the envelope here on the Real Weird Animals blog.

And notice the stamps! Issued in honour of 150 years of Canada, the complete serie contains ten different stamps, depicting ten unforgettable moments from the past 50 years.

Created by FinnBadger from the USA, who managed to send it via Canada! That amazing journey is worth noting, too!

Eva (23)

Usually I don't post regular postcards here, but this time the received card shows a little history, and the postage stamp on the back is interesting enough to be posted here, too.

Sent from Spain by Eva, this postcard came from the Belgian museum Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences. This card shows the permanent exhibition 'Gallery of Humankind'.

The stamp shows the Myotis capaccinii, in English known as long-fingered bat, in Spanish the long-legged (patudo) bat (murciélago), in German the long-foot (Langfuß) bat (Fledermaus) and in Dutch just Capaccini's bat (Capaccinni's vleermuis).

It is the first shaped Spanish stamp I've ever seen.
