Call for Mail Art: Weird (existing) Animals! Platypus, Tapir, Okapi, Echidna, Mole, Axolotl are some of my favourite animals. They have in common that they exist irl and that they are uncommon. Which animal do you think odd? Send your image of an unusual (existing, no fantasy) animal. All media are welcomed, preferable postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms). No jury, no fee, no return. All weird existing animals will be published in this ongoing virtual exhibition.

Valentine Mark Herman
This beautiful Platypus was created by Valentine Mark Herman from France, or from the Aborigine Settlement in Sigean to be more precise.
I love this dotted Platypus and I love the turquoise surroundings. Thank you very much, Val!

I don't know why lately I'm finding platypus everywhere - ?!?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI don't know either :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell, to be honest, I've done some 'advertising' for this animal. It is so funny to make mail art about, I think.
For me there's a long history, personally. I remember I was fascinated by the platypus since I was young, when I got an animal encyclopedia from my late grandparents in the seventies. An interesting book, with drawn illustrations instead of photos.
And the fact that the platypus has such weird characteristics made it to be one of my all-time-favourite animals.
I'm sorry for the overwhelming amount of this, and I will create a lighthouse soon again (for you!) :-)
